Active search for innovative products and technologies
MediGene specializes in the development and commercialization of anti-tumor drugs. The oncology market is highly dynamic and very complex. For this reason, our Business Development Team is permanently looking for tomorrow's innovative products and technologies for development and commercialize them, either by ourselves or in cooperation with our partners. The acquisitions of NeuroVir and Avidex, of the pan-European marketing rights for Eligard®, and of the assets of Munich Biotech AG (MBT) exemplify this strategy.

Extension of our product pipeline and establishement of a marketing and distribution channel
In pursuit of MediGene's forward integration we systematically expand our oncology product pipeline with both proprietary developments and licensed late-stage products. To maximize the creation of value we aim at the establishment of a European marketing and distribution channel.

Partnership with Astellas Pharma
In January 2004, MediGene and the pharmaceuticals group Astellas PHarma (previously Yamanouchi) concluded a partnership for the pan-European commercialization of Eligard®. With Astellas Pharma, MediGene succeeded in winning one of the top 3 pharmaceutical companies in Europe in the field of urology as the marketing partner for our first drug. This partnership provides an excellent basis to tap the full economic potential of Eligard®.

US-Marketing and Development Partnership with Nycomed
In January 2006, MediGene has entered into a partnership agreement with Bradley Pharmaceuticals (today Nycomed USA), a US specialty pharmaceutical company. Bradley will take on US commercialization of Polyphenon® E Ointment. MediGene and Bradley also agreed upon a development partnership to examine the application of the drug for the treatment of other skin diseases.

Partnerships for the development of novel technologies and product candidates
On the basis of our EndoTAG technology, we are developing our first drug candidate EndoTAG®-1. The product ist currently undergoing clinical phase II development in the indications pancreatic cancer and breast cancer. In addition, EndoTAG®-1 should be developed for the treatment of other solid tumors as well.
The drug candidate RhuDex for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis is currently undergoing a phase IIa pilot trial.
Our groundbreaking HSV technology included the NV1020 product for the treatment of liver metastases (phase I/II), as well as G207 for the treatment of malignant brain tumors (phase I).
